Do I need a permit for a home addition or ADU in Sacramento?+
Yes. Any addition or ADU needs plans, permits and inspections from your city or county. We prepare the plans, submit them and handle every inspection for you. That is part of the job, so you never stand in a permit line.
What is the difference between a garage conversion and a detached ADU?+
A garage conversion turns space you already have into a living area, so it is usually the faster, lower-cost path. A detached ADU is a new small home built separately in your yard, with its own kitchen, bathroom and entrance. Which one fits depends on your lot and what you want the space to do.
Can I rent out an ADU on my property?+
In most cases, yes. California rules generally allow homeowners to rent out a permitted ADU as a long-term rental. Each city sets its own details, so we confirm the exact rules for your address during the design phase, before you commit to anything.
Will the addition match the rest of my house?+
That is the whole point of doing it right. We match rooflines, siding, windows, trim and flooring so the new space reads as original to the home.
How long does an addition or ADU take to build?+
Most additions and ADUs take several months from first design meeting to final walkthrough. Design, engineering and city permit review set the pace early, then construction moves steadily once we break ground. We give you a written schedule before we start.
