Do I need a permit for a patio or deck in Sacramento?+
Most decks need a permit, and a covered patio almost always does because it adds a roof. An open, ground-level patio sometimes does not, depending on its size and your city. We check the exact rule for your address before we draw anything.
What is the difference between a covered patio and an open patio?+
A covered patio has a roof over it, so you get shade and shelter from light rain. An open patio has no roof, just the paved or poured surface. The roof is the real difference in how you use it.
Can a deck attach directly to my house?+
Yes. We tie the deck framing into your house structure so it feels like part of the house. We also build freestanding decks when the yard calls for it.

It depends on the size, the materials and whether it is covered or open. We give you a written price after we walk your yard and understand exactly what you want.
What materials do you use for decks and patios?+
For decks, we build in wood, matched to how much upkeep you want to do. For patios, we work in concrete or pavers depending on the look and the budget. We walk you through the real options during design.
How long does a patio or deck take to build?+
A patio or deck usually moves faster than a full addition since there is no interior work involved. Design and any needed permits set the pace early, then construction moves quickly once we start.
